The Panther wrestling teams recently hosted their own invitational tournament held last Friday and Saturday. The girls opened the action on Friday night placing 4th as a team in the 28-team event. The Panthers were paced by senior Jailyn Ebert who claimed the title at the 115 lbs. weight class. Ebert is a former “All-State” wrestler for the Panthers with hopes to return to the podium this winter. Earlier in the season, Ebert won first place at the Festus Scramble. She is now 8 – 0 on the season. Other Panthers earning medals on the girls side were: Reaghan Jones (100 lbs. – 2nd place), Baylie Wehmeyer (135 lbs. - 2nd place), Kayla Hobday (4th – 120 lbs.) and Hadley Davis (6th – 100 lbs.). Jones also took top honors at the Festus Scramble, Wehmeyer was 2nd at Festus.
On the boys side the Panthers were led by sophomore Cole Aguirre, a returning state runner-up from a season ago, he dominated his weight class registering three falls and one technical fall on his way to the tournament title. The Panthers placed two other wrestlers, Nate Provost (120 lbs.) and Deacon Moran (190 lbs.) in the finals at the invitational. Both fell in their finals matches to earn silver medals. Other Panthers placing in the top 6 of the 23-team event included: Jack Bals (6th – 106 lbs.), Patrick Provost (5th – 113 lbs.), Jacob Bals (5th – 120 lbs.) and Carsten Burkemper (5th – 126 lbs.). The Panthers finished 5th in the final team standings.
The boys team is currently ranked 9th in the state according to the website – missouriwrestling.com.

The Panthers are back in action this evening at the North Point tri-meet featuring the host school and Timberland. Action begins at 5:00 pm. The girls will compete in the Francis Howell “Thrasher” Invitational this Saturday where wrestling is expected to start at 9:00 am.
