St Louis County makes it easier to Pay annual Tax bills (flovalleynews.com) — If you live in St. Louis County, your 2025 personal property and real estate tax bills are now online, and you can pay them digitally, by mail, drop box, or in person. All payments must be postmarked by December 31, 2025 to avoid penalties, and seniors using the new tax freeze should remember it caps increases but doesn’t erase what they owe.
   

2. St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Reopens Historic Powell Hall (globaltravelerusa.com) — St. Louis music lovers can now return to a fully renovated Powell Hall at the new Jack C. Taylor Music Center, following a $140 million, two-year overhaul. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s 146th season will spotlight major classical works, expanded education programs, and more accessible, comfortable spaces for audiences, students, and visiting artists in the Grand Center Arts District.
   

3. Teen receives first combined heart-kidney transplant in Missouri (firstalert4.com) — A 17-year-old patient just became the first person in Missouri to receive a combined heart-kidney transplant at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, marking a major medical milestone for the city. Coordinated by Washington University and Children’s Hospital teams, the rare procedure used organs from a single donor and has allowed her to return home, school, and time with friends.
   

4. St. Louis animal shelter seeks help as heating system fails during cold weather (firstalert4.com) — St. Louis’ city-contracted animal shelter CARE STL is scrambling after one of its main heating units failed, leaving dogs in a chilly 8,500-square-foot building just as colder weather moves in. Staff are urgently seeking foster homes and donations so about 30 remaining dogs can stay warm and safe while the shelter works toward repairs and a long-term move to a better facility.
   

5. Families relieved schools damaged by May 16 tornado will reopen (firstalert4.com) — Three St. Louis Public Schools damaged in the May 16 tornado will reopen in January, bringing students back to Yeatman Middle, Washington Montessori, and Beaumont High. Families and neighborhood leaders say having local schools back will ease hardships, support storm-hit North City communities, and help keep residents from leaving, while Hickey Elementary is slated to reopen next August.
