City Appoints 'Olivette Future Committee' in Wake of Bond Defeats
The appointment of six residents to the advisory panel comes five months after the defeat of two bond issues for city facilities improvements.

Five months after city voters failed to pass two ballot measure that would have funded improvements to city parks, city hall, the fire station and other facilities, the City Council has named six residents to an advisory panel to help them chart the course of those city needs.
The "Olivette Future Task Force" was conceived in November after the August defeat of two bond issues. The council gave birth to the panel at its meeting last week. The six members, all from Olivette, are:
- Rob Jurgiel, 8 EnfieldÂ
- Mike Sanders, 9105 EdwardÂ
- Rachel McMahon, 701 Cordell CourtÂ
- Doug Wolfe, 16 Beverly DriveÂ
- Matthew Green, 25 Crabapple CourtÂ
- Neal Novack, 1 Romany ParkÂ
The next step, according to City Manager Michael McDowell, is to schedule the initial meeting of this group; he said the goal is to have the launch meeting by the end of January.

The early timeline for the group was to have the panel review facility needs, and financing alternatives and to provide recommendations to the city council by May 1. The council would consider the recommendations with an eye toward putting out a possible bond vote in August.
