Council To Discuss Future Task Force

City leaders hope to name the citizen committee by the end of 2012.

The Olivette "Future Task Force", which was proposed earlier this fall as a way of shaping future proposals for city facility needs, is among the items up for discussion Tuesday night by city council members.

The panel received ten applications from a cross-section of community members. When the idea came forward earlier this year, the belief was that the panel should specifically include 2 people with engineering/construction backgrounds, as well as representation from City Council and Olivette's Planning and Community Design Commission, (PCDC), leaving 3 spots for citizens with a non-specific background.

In a work session last week, council members discussed plusses and minuses of particular candidates without idenitfying them by name. They appeared to reach a consensus that the task force no longer needed to included a representative from PCDC.

According to Tuesday's agenda, "As this is an ad hoc committee without permanent status and was not established by ordinance, City Council has the prerogative to revise the membership structure of the Future Task Force as it deems appropriate."

Who do you think should be on the Olivette Future Task Force?
