I Love Mr. Sushi Expanding in Neighboring Space

The restaurant has been an Olivette fixture for 16 years.

Norman Quan's small Japanese restaurant and its five-seat sushi bar may be twice as big by the end of the year if the owner gets his way.

I Love Mr. Sushi restaurant had a notice on last week's Olivette City Council agenda indicating that the restaurant has submitted plans for an expansion. Patch talked to Quan on Monday.

He told us that the expansion, he hopes, could start the week of Nov. 26 and be completed by year's end. His shop, at 9443 Olive Blvd., would expand into the space in the Olivette Plaza immediately to the east—which had been occupied by a chiropractic office.

Mr. Sushi's dining room seats about two dozen people. Most of the new space will be for an expanded dining room. The kitchen will also expand, which, Quan said, will allow the business to do more catering.

George Kieffer, Olivette building inspector and plan reviewer, said I Love Mr. Sushi has an approved building permit and could start renovation of the space any day now.
