Olivette Residents Hire Attorney Over Old Bonhomme Road, Sidewalk Repair Project

One resident has reportedly hired an attorney because she feels the city is not listening to community members, but is forcing the project on neighbors.

Some residents who live along the two-mile stretch of road between University City and Olive Boulevard are notΒ on board with with the city's plans to repair road. They've told city council members in the past that the road workΒ will have a significant impact on property values and the charm that led them to the neighborhood.

A recent report by KSDK saysΒ residents have even hired an attorney in an effort to gain the city's attention, and it ear.

Homeowners say they have been working for nine months or more to have an open dialogue with the city about their concerns over the project, the KSDK article states. Β However, according to the report,Β residents say theirΒ attempts have been unsuccessful and theΒ city is not allowing the public to offer input on the plan.

City officials, however, sayΒ theΒ Old Bonhomme Road improvements are necessary to meet federal guidelinesΒ and the city'sΒ Director of Public ServicesΒ posted the a letter on the city's website earlier this year to explain why.
