A woman told us that on Tuesday night, two men who said they worked for AT&T came to her door at 9 p.m. and were asking questions about her husband, when he would return and that they knew what kind of car he drove.

After she got the men to leave, the woman called police, who she said told her they had received a second call along the same lines.

An AT&T spokesperson told Patch that the company does have people canvassing the Webster Groves area selling U-verse television service. The spokesperson said employees are identified with company clothing and an ID badge, and offer a phone number consumers can call if they have questions about the validity of solicitors. The spokesperson was not aware of the specific questions a salesman would typically ask.

The woman who contacted Patch said the men did have AT&T clothing on but could not provide ID.

Wednesday, Webster Groves Lt. Andrew Miller said they did get one call for two people who were asking "odd questions," which was classified as a "suspicious person" call, but no official police report was taken.

Lt. Miller said people in similar situations should not give out information. If something like this happens to you, you're urged to contact your local police department.
