An outpatient imaging facility is due to open in 2014 off Olive Boulevard.

Patch previouslyΒ reported on construction progress at the corner of New Ballas Road and Olive Boulevard at the site formerly anchored by the Borders Bookstore.

Last week,Β Patch confirmed specifics behind St. Luke's plans for the former Fitness Showcase space next door to the ALDI grocer.

Here's what a spokeswoman relayed to us, courtesy ofΒ Chrissi Blake, St. Luke’s Hospital Assistant Director of Outpatient Services:Β

"Construction began this week on Open Upright MRI of Missouri located at 11737 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur. The facility will offer Missouri’s first Open Upright MRI technology. Open MRI scanners offer claustrophobic patients the best alternative to high-field imaging. For most exams, nothing is in front of the patient’s face, and they can even watch TV. This scanner also offers unique positional imaging capabilities – patients can be scanned sitting, standing or in other positions if they feel pain. Open Upright MRI of Missouri will open in early 2014.
