Missouri American Water installs New Water Main

Missour American Water began installing 3,000 feet of 30-inch diameter water main along Caulks Hill Road from
Towers Road south to Greens Bottom Road in St. Charles County. The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2012.

The new project is the first step to accommodate St. Charles County’s new Caulks Hill Road improvement project, which will widen and straighten the roadway in this area. Missouri American Water is replacing two smaller diameter water mains, installed in the 1960s and the 1990s, to make room for the road improvements.

Replacing two smaller diameter pipelines with one larger pipeline improves the efficiency of water delivery to the St. Charles County area, and helps continue to meet peak summer water demands.

Drivers may notice some lane closures along Caulks Hill Road during the projected five- month construction. When possible, lane closures will be timed to minimize disruption of rush-hour traffic.
