Missouri American Water Installs Water Mains on Ehlmann Road

Working ahead of road crews on the St. Charles
County Ehlmann Road improvement project, Missouri American Water is installing about 3,100
feet of new water mains alongside Ehlmann Road from Oakmont Drive to Zumbehl Road. The
work is scheduled to be completed in the late fall.

The project is replacing 1960s and 1970s vintage pipelines with new eight-inch to 12-inch
diameter water mains that will be located outside of the roadway alignment. Bommarito
Construction is the contractor for the project. Because the water mains are being relocated
out of the roadway, traffic disruption will be minimal during the project. The new water main
alignment also provides easier access and maintenance in the future

“We support these local road improvements by replacing aging, underground water mains
in conflict with the road construction with new water mains located outside the roadway
alignment.” said St. Charles County Operations Manager David Murphy. “These projects
support our transportation and water systems, which helps maintain public safety and the
economic vitality of our community.”
