Optimist Club Offers Scholarship Opportunity

The Optimist Club of St. Charles is accepting applications for the International Essay Contest for 2012.

Students are asked to write an essay about how their positive outlook benefits the community.

Students should submit a copy of their essays, applications and a copy of their birth certificates to or their teachers by Dec. 15.

The essays will be judged by members of the Optimist Club and select winners.

Prizes are gold, silver and bronze medals as long as grants for $250, $125 and $75.

Winning essays will advance to district level. The winner at that level could win a $2,500 college scholarship and compete at the international level for a chance to win an engraved plaque and recognition in The Optimist magazine.
