St. Charles Hosts City Lights Display Contest

The St. Charles Beautification Commission is once again sponsoring the 8th Annual St. Charles City Lights Awards, the city's holiday display contest.  The contest is open to all St. Charles city residents and businesses.

The Beautification Commission will welcome nominations through November 30. Nominations can be made for lit or non-lit displays, and can be of any worthy display in the city, including one of your very own.

The annual contest is an opportunity to foster participation in the holiday season, and recognize those citizens and business owners who beautify the city with their varied holiday displays.

The Beautification Commission is intent on promoting various types of beautification and pride within our community.  This event has been a continued success and the Commission hopes to carry on the tradition for many years to come.

A number of awards will be presented to the winners during the City Council meeting held on Dec. 20, 2011. Submit the attached application. The Beautification Commission looks forward to reviewing all applications and celebrating the 2011 season.

Judges will review each display on Friday, December 9 and/or Saturday, December 10.  If lights are part of the display, please have them on no later than 5 p.m. for judging purposes.

Applications should be returned to Anne Freand in Community Development (City Hall, 200 North Second St., Suite 303) or fax to her attention at 636-949-3557.  For more information, call 636-949-3222.
