The whole 4-mile trail is part of the Great Rivers Greenway River Ring, a network of trails and greenways that encircles the St. Louis region.
Rather than using a retaining wall, GRG put in a SmartSlope Living Wall which made of vegetation while maintaining erosion control. The trail also features an overlook and artwork called Blomstré, a 24-foot flower scuplture made of bicycle parts created by Andrew Andrasko.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. June 15 at Fifth Street and Little Hills Expressway and refreshments will be available.
“The Boschert Greenway is an important connector for residents in the City of St. Charles,” said Susan Trautman, Executive Director of Great Rivers Greenway in a press release. “With the completion of this second phase, whether walking or bicycling, St. Charles residents now have direct access from their own backyards to the Katy Trail and several great area parks and neighborhoods.”
