City Awards Nonprofits More than $20,000 in Grant Funding

Several nonprofit groups were awarded grant funding from the on Tuesday. 

Members of the Grant Review Committee included council members Laurie Feldman, Ward 3, Dave Beckering, Ward 7, Mary Ann Ohms, Ward 1 and Tom Besselman, Ward 2. 

received $4,780, which will go toward helping to provide people with medication. 

St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation received $4,000. Jeanne Gibbons, officer of Corporate and Foundation Relations at St. Louis Children's Hospital accepted the grant.

She said the Foundation is bringing two 40-foot mobile health vans into the St. Charles area to help about 350 children through restorative dentistry, health screenings and follow up with social workers for hearing and vision problems, scoliosis and anemia. 

"We're spending close to $200,000 in St. Charles this year," she said.

received $1,500 for spaying and neutering program. Five Acres was previously called St. Charles Humane Society.

received $3,280. FAST now has a food pantry that serves 48 foster families in the St. Charles area. The biggest draw is milk and FAST spends about $7,000 a year to provide each family with one gallon of milk a week. 

received $5,000 grant and St. Charles Crime Stoppers received a $2,000 grant.
