Man Pointed Loaded Gun At Driver, Police Say

A St. Charles Police Officer witnessed part of the road rage incident, according to court documents.

A driver pointed a loaded 9 mm handgun at another motorist Friday near the intersection of Kingshighway Street and First Capitol Drive.

St. Charles Police said the St. Charles man was screaming and yelling as he tailed the other motorist and drove dangerously in rush hour traffic at about 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

The driver, Gregory Shurtz, 47, of the 1200 block of Chargene in St. Charles, was charged Monday with unlawful use of a weapon, a felony. A St. Charles police officer, who witnessed part of the incident, pulled Shurtz over and arrested him.
