St. Charles Municipal Band Concert Series

The St. Charles Municipal Band performs each Thursday from June through August at 8 p.m. in Frontier Park.

The band goes back to 1870 when it was a small brass band and played during the July 4 parade.

The name changed through the years, with many members working for the St. Charles Car Company in the 1800s. Today the band has more than 40 members.

The band plays more than 25 concerts a year. While the municipal band does themed shows ocasionally, they typically do 8 to 10 numbers a night which are all different.

"I prefer concerts where if you don't like one piece you might like the next one," said Nancy Garza, director, in an last summer. "Variety is important. There should be something for everyone at every concert."
