FHN, Orchard Farm Quarterfinal Games Set

Both teams move onto the next

The Orchard Farm girls soccer team will continue its history-making post-season run on Saturday.     

The Eagles (16-7) meet John F. Kennedy (12-10) in a Class 1 quarterfinal contest at 1 p.m. at Kennedy. The winner will advance to the state tournament and play the winner of Saturday's match between St. Vincent (20-4) and John Burroughs (8-8-1) on June 3 in a state semifinal at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton.      

Orchard Farm has won four of its last five matches including a 4-2 win over Winfield in sectional play on Tuesday.

The Eagles beat Kennedy 4-0 and 3-2 during the regular season.    

Orchard Farm juniors Alexis Robbers (27 goals) and Brooke Burckhardt (23) lead the way.

"We're playing with a lot of confidence now," said Burckhardt. "We feel like we can beat anybody."

This the first Elite Eight appearance for Orchard Farm in any major sport.     Robbers scored three goals against JFK in the 4-0 win April 1 at Luxembourg Field.        

Francis Howell North (17-6-1) will meet Incarnate Word Academy (15-4-1) in a Class 3 quarterfinal match at 1 p.m. Saturday at Incarnate Word.

The victor clashes with the winner of the contest between Lindbergh (20-6) and Ursuline Academy (15-4-1) in a state semifinal June 3 at 5 p.m.   

Kelsey Fouch leads the Knights with 18 goals. Francis Howell North has won eight of its last nine matches.   

Incarnate Word has won the state championship twice in the last three years.
