Historic Homes: Survey Shows Which St. Charles Homes Are Historically Significant

The St. Charles Landmarks Board will host an information meeting to discuss the results of a survey of the Midtown and Commons Neighborhoods shows

During the past several years, grant funding has supported a survey to determine the historical significance of two neighborhoods in St. Charles.

At 7 p.m. June 18, the Landmarks Board will host an informational meeting to discuss the results of the most recent survey of buildings and homes in the Midtown and Commons neighborhoods.

The city was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the National Park Service. The money was used for Phase 2 of a survey of the area. Phase 3 is set to begin soon.

The surveys determine which homes are more than 50 years old and might be eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.

The city is hoping the results will bolster support for inclusion of the neighborhoods as a whole. Residents can learn more about what a listing on the National Register would mean to them.
