To the Editor:
While U.S. Rep. Todd Akin takes a beating in the media over his asinine rape comment, it makes me wonder about the voters of the 2nd Congressional District who keep reelecting him.

Generally speaking, most people vote for political candidates who share their views on key issues. Since 2nd District voters have sent Akin back to Congress for more than 10 years, I must assume that they too oppose school lunches; the minimum wage; birth control; sex education and the student loan program. I must assume that, like Akin, they oppose funding for autism research and believe that liberalism is tantamount to “hatred for God.”
And what have 2nd District voters gotten for their 10-plus years of loyalty to Akin?

According to the Post, Akin passed just one bill in his entire Congressional career; a bill to protect the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Wow, stunning.
I’m, sure the voters of the 2nd District sleep better at night knowing that trusty Todd Akin is there to protect them from us God-hating heathens.
