Dear Editor:
A lot of companies are good about telling us about their investments in a community or state. But from experience it’s been a lot tougher getting companies to show us how they’re spending their dollars to enhance our quality of life and economic development opportunities. Tough, that is, until now.
Recently, AT&T announced that it is deploying a new website that will give consumers a detailed and comprehensive path to see the company’s ever-expanding investment in the St. Louis metro area. The website, which can be accessed at focus.att.com/stl, outlines the company’s new cell sites, network connection upgrades, broadband speed upgrades, network capacity upgrades, and locations of retail stores and Wi-Fi hotspots within the geographic area.

But the microsite offers much more than an ongoing review of how AT&T is investing millions of dollars in the metro area. Because it was designed with input from customers through surveys and focus groups, It also offers tips for taking the wireless experience to a whole new level. In fact, from our viewpoint, one of the most amazing aspects of the website is what it’s not – a marketing tool to pitch AT&T wireless products.
It is refreshing to see a company like AT&T that’s willing to share how it’s investing its millions of dollars throughout the St. Louis metro area. The St. Charles Chamber is encouraging its members to go to the website so it can see how AT&T’s investment is improving service quality and enhancing technology. We applaud AT&T for making the investments that help my organization better achieve its economic development goals.
