Lindenwood's Autumn Bax Named OVC Volleyball Freshman Of The Week

The Ohio Valley Conference announced its women's volleyball weekly award winners on Monday. Lindenwood's Autumn Bax and Allie Otten were recognized for their play against Eastern Illinois.

Bax was named OVC Freshman of the Week for the third straight week, after leading the Lions in kills in their two matches against Eastern Illinois over the weekend. Lindenwood swept both matches -- stretching the team's current winning streak to three in a row -- with Bax totaling 21 kills in the two wins.

The 6-2 rightside hitter from Jefferson City had 12 kills in the series opener on Friday, then followed that up with nine kills in the win on Saturday.

Bax suffered an injury in the season opener and missed several matches early in the season, but since her return has been one of the top hitters in the entire OVC. She currently ranks second on the Lions in hitting percentage (.298) and leads all OVC freshmen in that category.

Otten was selected as the Setter of the Week after dishing out 71 assists over the weekend inside Hyland Arena. She had 37 and 34 assists against EIU which marked the ninth and tenth time this season she went over 30 assists.

Against the Panthers, Otten did a little of everything after picking up nine kills, three aces, 19 digs and four blocks. Otten picked up her eighth double-double of the season on Saturday with 34 assists and 10 digs. She ranks fourth in the OVC in assists per set with an average of 8.51.

Lindenwood will be back in action on Tuesday night, when it will travel to Macomb, Ill., to take on Western Illinois. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
