Mary Ann Ohms Will Represent Ward 1 on City Council
Voters chose newcomer over former city councilman and former state representative.
Mary Ann Ohms, an attorney who practices in St. Louis, will represent Ward 1 on the city council.
Ohms won 38.44 percent of the vote, besting both former city councilman Rory Riddler, who won 24.79 percent, and former State Rep. Kenny Biermann, who won 36.77 percent of the vote.
Ohms, 55, sought the position as a way to get more involved in the city. She is a member of the city’s Parks and Recreation board. During the day Tuesday, she stood outside Memorial Hall in Blanchette Park, holding a sign and saying hello to voters.

On Tuesday morning the streets around several polling places in Wards 1 and 2 were covered in signs that said “No More Rory Riddler” with a large red circle with a line through it. The signs said they were paid for by Steve Miles.
Steve Miles is general manager of Jerry Kelly heating and cooling, which is located in Ward 1. Miles did not return calls for comment.
Biermann, 55, had been looking for a way to serve, and said his strength was in bringing people together.
