Morning Exchange: Looking for Talented Kids

St. Charles Whiz Kids feature has kicked off, but we haven't gotten many submissions.

Hi all!

Today I'll be at 2nd Street Bike Stop and Cafe talking to owner Jodi Devonshire about starting an outdoor garden indoors during the winter. Devonshire teaches classes about gardening and composting through St. Charles Community College.

Speaking of the Community College, it was recently recognized as a Tree Campus University through the Arbor Day Foundation. To qualify, campuses have to have an advisory committee, a tree care plan, a tree care program, observe Arbor Day and do service learning projects.

This week's Patch Picks will highlight five St. Charles-based nonprofit organizations making a difference in the community. I'm looking for nominations! Those with the most nominations will be highlighted. Just tell me a little bit about the organization if you can in the comments. runs Thursdays at 4 p.m.

We're still looking for nominations for Whiz Kids in the community. I've had a few nominations, but would love to have more. Do you have a helpful neighbor or a volunteer who works in your organization? Let me know! See an example of our Whiz Kid feature .
