Scenes from the 2011 St. Charles County Fair

Rural and urban residents turned out to show pigs, sample food and enjoy the rides.

Despite the heat on Tuesday night, a large crowd gathered for the opening of the St. Charles County Fair at in Wentzville. 

Some fair goers enjoyed rides and cotton candy, while others prepared for the the night's shows, including the swine judging and Fair Queen Coronation.

St. Charles Suburban Journals interviewed fair organizer Snap Siesennop before the fair began. He said the fair has become somewhat of a novelty as a rural lifestyle is replaced by suburban expansion.
