Should You Visit A New Mom in the Hospital?

How long is too long of a visit in the hospital?

Each week in Moms Talk, our council of smart parents takes your questions, give advice and share solutions. Meet the .

This week, I'm asking the smart moms a question about etiquette when it comes to visiting moms in the hospital.

I have many friends who are going to have babies this spring and summer. Not having had a child myself, I'm curious about the proper etiquette for visiting new parents in the hospital. Should I go up after a parent posts the news on Facebook or sends a text? Or should I wait until the family is home from the hospital? If I go to the hospital, how long should I stay? I've visited new moms who have had a party in their rooms post-birth and other times, I've only stayed a few minutes because a nurse said it was quiet time. What bugged you most or what did you like most about visitors after you had your baby?
