Spencer Road Library Branch to Close Sept. 17

St. Charles City-County Library patrons can visit McClay Library branch and others in the county while the library prepares to move into a new building.

The Spencer Road Branch of the St.Charles City-County Library District will close Sept. 17 to prepare for a move to the new library building, which is expected to open in early 2012.  

While the Spencer Road Branch is closed, library customers are encouraged to use the four branches closest to Spencer Road. 

  • McClay Branch: 2760 McClay Road, St. Charles 63303
  • Kisker Road Branch: 1000 Kisker Road, St. Charles 63304
  • Middendorf-Kredell Branch: 2750 Hwy K, O'Fallon 63368
  • Kathryn Linnemann Branch: 2323 Elm Street, St. Charles 63301

Customers can pick up their unfilled reserves from McClay Branch. The book drop at the old Spencer Road Branch location will be open until October 10.

The new library's book return may be open as early as Nov. 14 and people can return books there at that point.

Once the Spencer Road Branch is emptied, contractors will demolish the old branch, remove debris from the site, complete the covered walkway to the new building, install the outdoor patio, and regrade and surface the entire parking lot.

The final day to drop off donations for the annual Friends of the Library Book Fair at the Spencer Road Branch will be August 31. Donations are still accepted at all other library locations.
