St. Charles County Says No Decision Made on Lingerie Football League
Policy Committee ruled determined team doesn't violate rules, but no contract has been signed.
has not yet signed a contract to allow a Lingerie Football League franchise to play at the Family Arena.
Various news organizations reported the franchise would play at the Arena after the LFL announced the expansion Thursday.
“Whoever announced this jumped the gun,” County Executive Steve Ehlmann said in a press release. “They talked to us last year and we turned them down. They came to us again this year, and we took it to a policy committee to review. They found the league did not violate our policy on events at the Family Arena. So we’re talking with the league. But there is no contract.”

Ehlmann said the concerns about the lack of insurance for players “could be a deal-breaker.”
“We’re looking into that,” he said. “But if the league only provides up to $10,000 coverage for players, that’s something we will have to consider.”

A player was injured during the 2012 All-Fantasy LFL game which was played in Mexico. Commissioner Mitch Mortaza said the woman was in a neck brace following the game, but will be able to attend mini-camp.
"It was a scare," he said in an interview posted on YouTube. "We've opened up, for the fans who saw it, the defensive rules have really gone away now; it's real football. So you're going to see those monster blitz and blindside hits—it's part of the game."
As of now, the Lingerie Football League is not booked for any events at the county-owned Family Arena. They are expected to book two home games at the arena and also play two away games in the season, according to a story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Open tryouts are apparently scheduled for 12 p.m to 3 p.m. June 17 at Vetta Sports Soccerdome in Webster Groves. According to information on the website, a final roster typically consists of 20 players with 14 active for games.
The team wouldn't begin play until 2013, however.
Fans are invited to email suggestions for a team name to LFLinStLouis@lflus.com. The St. Louis league would compete against other teams in the Eastern League which includes Baltimore Charm, Cleveland Crush, Philadelphia Passion, Tampa Breeze and an Omaha-based expansion team.
