St. Charles Whiz Kid: Blake Schmidt

Each week, St. Charles Patch will feature a kid, or kids, who is doing something great.

Kids of the Week: Blake Schmidt

●      Whiz Kids' Grade: Blake is in eighth grade. 

●      Whiz Kids' School: Blake attends. 

●      Whiz Kids' Accomplishment:  Blake raised more than $180 for a local family in need.

●      Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: Blake's mom, Kathy Schmidt, is a teacher at Coverdell Elementary School. She told her family that Coverdell was hosting a number of events to raise money for a family in need. Blake decided to find a way to help.

Nominator Holly Locke said, "He went to his school and asked that they hold a casual dress day in which participants would pay to dress casually. His event raised over $180 for our Coverdell family in need. What a wonderful effort for a young man who doesn't even know this family! His giving and loving heart is inspirational."
