Man Charged Following Deadly Shooting In North City

Homicide detectives were called to a north St. Louis neighborhood following a deadly shooting Tuesday.

Homicide detectives were called to a north St. Louis neighborhood following a deadly shooting Tuesday. A man was shot in the 1300 block of Union in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood around 8:30 a.m. Officers found him on the porch of a home. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Tuesday afternoon, he was identified as 33-year-old James Johnson. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Honor Johnson, was arrested inside the home and a gun was recovered. Johnson was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and assault. It is unclear what happened leading up to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
