S. Broadway and Osage Closed After Explosion, Police Say
One worker was taken to the hospital with electrical burns, police said, after an electrical cable malfunction.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police in St. Louis say the area near the intersection of S. Broadway and Osage Street in south St. Louis is closed due to an explosion. Ameren, Spire and the St. Louis Fire Department are working to determine what happened and to make the scene safe.
Authorities said one man was taken to a hospital with electrical burns. His is listed in serious condition.

Fox 2 reports the man was a subcontractor working for Ameren. The company said the explosion was caused by an electrical cable malfunction while the man was working in a manhole.
About 800 residences and businesses near the area where the explosion took place are without power, according to Ameren. Power should be restored shortly, but the investigation is ongoing, the company said.
