  1. Officials in St. Louis and St. Louis County have decided to place their shares from the Rams relocation settlement into separate accounts. The city will put $280 million into an interest-accruing, flexible account with the Missouri Securities Investment Program. The county will transfer $169 million to a similar account as the city. County Executive Sam Page said, "The unprecedented settlement with the NFL has provided our region with the opportunity to make a significant investment in our future." (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
  2. Kenneth Smith of St. Louis was found guilty on Wednesday by a jury for voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. During a domestic dispute on Aug. 1, 2020, Smith fatally stabbed Jason Slater, who was unarmed, with a kitchen knife after he got into an altercation with Slater at his ex-girlfriend's home (who Slater was living with). Smith will be sentenced on Feb. 24 and faces up to 15 years in prison. (KMOV4)
  3. An autopsy report revealed 16-year-old Darryl Ross was fatally shot 18 times by St. Louis Metropolitan Police during a Sep. 11, 2022 incident. According to the police report, Ross left a Shell gas station in the Old North neighborhood when police arrived, went down a side alley, ran from police who were marked in vests, and reached for a pistol he dropped when he fell over a curb. Police shot Ross and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. (Riverfront Times)
