ST. LOUIS, MO — St. Louis is offering city residents free firewood this year, starting this week. The wood comes from dead or damaged trees that have been cut down around the city.
If you're in need of firewood, here's where you can pick some up:
- Forest Park – lower Muny Opera parking lot
- Carondelet Park - compost and recycling location off Holly Hills Drive
- O'Fallon Park - North of Picnic Site #4

Daily wood supply is not guaranteed, officials cautioned, but wood is typically dropped off after 3 p.m. on Tuesdays. All wood is available first come-first served. Free firewood will be available until March, but commercial vehicles and trailers are not allowed due to park restrictions. The wood is not split and will vary in size and tree species.
For more information, call the St. Louis Division of Forestry at 314-613-7200.
