On December 21, the winter solstice, they will be so close, they will appear as a double planet, which will look like a giant star.

To find them, look low in the western sky for about an hour after sunset each evening between December 16 and Christmas. According to NASA, while the two planets may appear close, they are still hundreds of millions of miles apart.
