βOur Viva Bene model ushers in a new era of living for individuals aged 55-plus seeking options to traditional senior living, especially more affordably priced alternatives that cater to active, wellness-minded individuals,β said Laurie Schultz, Viva Bene principal and co-founder. βWe thank all of those who worked enthusiastically with us to bring forth a community where vibrant boomers can live independently, engage socially and manage health more proactively, without worrying about excessive costs.β
Viva Bene St. Peters is the first active adult rental property west of the Mississippi in the greater St. Louis area.

According to Schultz, care navigators (clinical concierges) help residents traverse healthcare system complexities and embrace a more proactive approach to health.
βMuch of Seviβs focus is to identify, address and reduce risks associated with chronic conditions,β she said. βIf we are going to improve quality of life and save real dollars in the overall healthcare system, we must promote health among individuals as they enter the medical risk pool rather than waiting until later when many have multiple chronic conditions and require assistance with daily living. Our environment is designed to reduce health decline, so residents can thrive and ultimately live longer, happier lives.β
Missouri Economic Research and Information Center data projects Missouriβs senior population to increase 87%, to 1.4 million, between 2000 and 2030. βIn five years, more than one-fifth of our state residents will be over 65,β Tate stated. βViva Bene represents true innovation in senior housing, something woefully needed as baby boomers continue to age and the country faces projected shortfalls in midmarket-priced housing.β
A large number of these individuals fall into the βforgotten middle,β those who donβt qualify for subsidized housing but canβt afford traditional senior living options, Schultz added.
Viva Bene is partnered with Greystar, the nationβs largest operator of apartments, to manage Viva Bene St. Peters.
