Police: Pair Gave Child 'Prostitution Advice' in Sex Trafficking Scheme

A man and woman were charged Friday with using two 17-year-old girls as prostitutes, including having the girls engage in 10 to 20 sex acts.

Demond L. Day, 33, of the 700 block of Hyde Drive in O’Fallon, was charged in St. Charles County Court with sexual trafficking of a child under age 18. Tiffany Leigh Piper, 21, of the 1400 block of Triangle Drive in St. Peters, was charged as an accessory to the crime.

St. Charles County Sheriff Tom Neer told Patch the two girls who acted as prostitutes both are 17 years old.

"They're underage in regards to the charges (against Day and Piper), but legally they're considered adults," Neer said.

A detective said in a report that Day and Piper supplied the girl with condoms, marijuana and advice on how to engage in prostitution between June 8 and Thursday, June 21.

Neer said the department's Cyber Crimes Unit uncovered the operation.

"There was use of computers to arrange the meetings, and the Cyber Crimes Unit intercepted the arranged meeting times," Neer said.

Sheriff's department detectives arrested the individuals at the at 5555 Veterans Memorial Parkway in . Day and Piper had the girl turn money from those acts over to them, the report states.

Neer said meetings were arranged at different hotels in St. Louis and St. Charles counties.

Sexual trafficking of a child under age 18 carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
