Rec-Plex Fitness Fest Offers Free Facilities,Classes

With winter weather coming back into the forecast, the St. Peters Rec-Plex offers a respite from the cold during Fitness Fest on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. Area families and individuals are welcome to come to the Rec-Plex for FREE to swim, ice skate, play volleyball and basketball, try out the expanded cardio and strength training facilities, walk or run on the indoor track, work out at some group fitness classes, and more. Plus, the Rec-Plex will offer tours of the facility and special offers only during Fitness Fest. Become a new member during the event and get a FREE month of Rec-Plex membership – 13 months for the price of 12! Families looking to try out the Rec-Plex facilities temporarily can purchase the Family Quick Start Pass. For just $150, the pass provides three full months of Rec-Plex access before having to decide whether to purchase a full annual pass.

Here is a schedule of FREE activities offered during Fitness Fest:

  • Fitness facilities, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (cardio and weight rooms and indoor track)
  • FREE group fitness classes from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Swimming, noon-3 p.m.
  • Ice skating, 12:30-3 p.m.
  • Volleyball, 9 a.m.-noon
  • Basketball, noon-3 p.m.
  • FREE fitness assessments to Passholders ($25 for non-members).
  • FREE Tot Drop babysitting
  • Vendor booths and displays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Cholesterol screenings by Barnes Jewish St. Peters Hospital for just $5 per person from 9 a.m. to noon.

All FREE classes offered during Fitness Fest are suitable for beginners. The public is welcome to come try out the classes and speak with instructors to find out which fitness classes might work best for them.Β Here is a schedule for group fitness classes during Fitness Fest:

  • 8:15-9:15 a.m. – Body Bar Toning Aerobics
  • 9-9:30 a.m. – Total Body Conditioning Aerobics
  • 9:15-10:15 a.m. – Cardio & Ab Blast Aerobics
  • 9:30-10 a.m. – Exer-Fun for ages 5-8
  • 10-10:30 a.m. – Teen Fit for teen girls ages 11-17
  • 10-11 a.m. – RPX Cycling (Spinning)
  • 10:30-11 a.m. – Short Circuit Aerobics
  • 10:45-11:30 a.m. – Body Bar Toning Aerobics
  • 11-11:30 a.m. – Kettlebell
  • 11-11:30 a.m. – Kids Gym Class
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Total Body Conditioning Aerobics
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Dynamic Resistance Training
  • 12:30-1:25 p.m. – Pilates for All
  • 1-2 p.m. – Fencing Demonstration and Class
  • 1:30-2:30 p.m. – RPX Cycling (Spinning)
