Update: Filing Opens in February for St. Charles County 2012 Elections
Even-number county council seats and circuit court judge positions will be on 2012 ballot.

Filings for St. Charles County elections will open Feb. 28, with three county council positions and four circuit court judgesΒ on the August 2012 primary and November 2012 ballots. Petition packets will be available at the St. Charles County Election Authority after the New Year.
The even numbered council seatsβdistricts 2, 4 and 6 are up for election in 2012. Council members Joe Brazil, R-District 2, of Defiance; Paul Wynn, R-District 4, of OβFallon, and Jerry Daugherty, D-District 6, of Portage des Sioux are up for re-election.

Brazil has said he would seek re-election. Lake Saint Louis Ward 3 Alderman John Pellerito said he likely will oppose Brazil in the August primary.
Pellerito sponsored the bill for a citywide smoking ban in public places in Lake Saint Louis. Brazil opposed placing a countywide smoking ban on the ballot, as the effort fell short with a 3-3 vote in November.

Wynn has been absent from several council meetings, as a new defense contracting job will mean he will be stationed in Afghanistan. Wynn said he was laid off from a contracting position at Scott Air Force base and took the only position available to him.
Daugherty is the only Democrat on the county council.
The judges in St. Charles County Circuit Court Divisions 3, 4, 5 and 7 also will be up for election.

All state representative seats are up for election in 2012, some in rearranged districts due to redistricting.
