Man Gave False Name, Drove Under Influence of Drugs, Trooper Says

A man faces criminal charges after a state trooper said he gave a false name and had drug-related items in his car Saturday.

Andrew Wilson, 30, of the 5500 block of Seth Avenue in Affton, was charged Sunday with identity theft and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper said he pulled Wilson over on westbound on Interstate 70 west of Truman Road in for several traffic violations, including failing to drive in a single lane. Wilson also was driving with his license revoked, the trooper reported.

When he began speaking with Wilson, the state trooper said Wilson’s body jerked involuntarily and he constantly licked his lips. He arrested Wilson for being under the influence of drugs, and found a hypodermic needle and a spoon with  burns on its underside, the trooper said.

Wilson told the trooper he was a person whom the trooper learned was in an Illinois state penitentiary. He insisted his name was the one given and signed five citations using that name. Wilson later was identified from his fingerprints.

Bond was set at $20,000.

Wilson was charged with being an in St. Charles last April. St. Charles Police said Wilson and two others from a family member’s home.
