New Rec-Plex Scoreboard Bids Overbudget

The St. Peters Board of Aldermen will decide between a pair of bids for a new scoreboard at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Both bids are over the estimated cost and are part of a series of new projects green-lighted by Prop P.

The Rec-Plex NatatoriumΒ scoreboard could soon be replaced as part of the ongoing Proposition P projects.

Originally slated to be replaced at the end of 2012, the board could soon vote on the purchase of a brand new scoreboard for the pool.Β Parks and Recreation DirectorΒ Jeff Hutsler is scheduled to present two bids to the Board of Aldermen at Thursday's work session.

If all goes well, the board could approve the purchase at a future meeting.

In the original pitch for Prop P projects, the new scoreboard was one of the first on the list and budgeted at $125,000. The two bids Hutsler will present Thursday will both be over the projected budgetβ€”a Colorado Time Systems scoreboard is budgeted at $148,350 and a bid from Daktronics comes in at $170,339. According the work session documents, Hutsler will recommend the board selected the bid from Colorado Time Systems.Β

The board document said the $22,350 difference between the budget and actual cost will be made up from money saved on other Proposition P projects. Some already-finished projects have come in under budget and that savings will be passed on to purchase the new scoreboard system.Β
