According to the St. Baldrickβs website, the event at Helen Fitzgeraldβs set a goal of raising $200,000. Maiya's mom, Jessica Woebling said according to the latest email she received, the event raised nearly twice that amount for a total near $380,000.
"St. Baldricks was an extremely successful event," Jessica said. "Maiya personally raised over $3,500, and her total is still climbing. We all had a great time celebrating an amazing cause."
Jessica said Maiya was nervous but excited to shave her head for a good cause. She braided her hair that morning for the event.
"We cut off the braid and kept it as a souvenir," Jessica said.
