Violet Picked By Mayor to Take Ward 3 Alderman Seat After Elliott Resignation
St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano has called a special meeting at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, to appoint Terri Violet to the Board of Aldermen.
St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano is making sure Ward 3 residents won't be without a second alderman too much longer.
Following theΒ ο»Ώresignation of Gus Elliott Β announced at the Sept. 13 meeting, Pagano has selected Terri Violet, a two-time candidate for the seat, to take Elliott's spot until the April 2013 election. The appointment is pending approval by the other members of the board.
AΒ ο»Ώspecial meeting has been called Β for 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, with the sole agenda item being the selection of Elliott's replacement. In the meeting notice, posted on the city of St. Peters' website, a note from Mayor Pagano indicates he has selected and appointed Violet to fill the vacant seat.Β

By calling the special meeting and appointment the replacement, the city would be able to have a full stable of aldermen before Thursdayβs regularly scheduled work session and meeting. A majority of the seven remaining aldermen will have to approve the appointment for Violet to fill Elliottβs seat.
If approved, Violet wouldnβt be filling out Elliottβs termβhe resigned 16 months into a 4-year term. Instead she would serve until the municipal election next April.Β
