Crestwood Finds a New City Administrator

Crestwood Mayor Jeff Schlink recommended Mark Sime to the Board of Alderman to take the position as a full-time city administrator. The board voted unanimously to approve Sime.

Sime is a retired Air Force colonel and at one time was the Vice Wing Commander at Scott Air Force Base where he oversaw 25,000 people who lived and worked on the base. He is currently a consultant for the Transportation and Logistics Department for the United States Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base.

Sime told the board he would give up his consulting job in order to take on the full-time position as administrator.

Sime is originally from Minnesota, but has called Crestwood home for the last two and half years. Mayor Schlink said that choosing a resident for the job was a deciding factor.

The city has gone through a handful of administrators in the last six years, the most recent of which was Petree Eastman. Eastman served less than six months of her contract before separating from the city for undisclosed reasons. Her annual salary was around $98,000, according to previous Patch reports.

Former Fire Chief Karl Kestler served as interim city administrator throughout 2012 as the city searched for a replacement. Assistant Fire Chief Mark Menning stepped up upon Kestler's retirement on Jan. 1.
