FLASH: Mrs. Calabash Mulls Over Pending Adoption

Angelic sort languishing with Sutton may be going home.

The lovely Mrs. Calabash, living for weeks in Crestwood's White Cliff Park under the watchful eye of Suzie Sutton, has moved into the ranks of adoption pending.

It's a good thing.

Mrs. Calabash is a dish of a cat, and Sutton is the city's animal control officer, soon to retire.

"I was beginning to think I'd lost my touch," Sutton said earlier, when a handful of gentle, domestic, healthy cats seemed to be lingering at the exclusive animal shelter in the city's beautiful park.

However, with Mrs. Calabash's pending adoption, Sutton likely sees an uptick in interest for the kitties.

Also, there was some thought the inmates were sticking around for Sutton's retirement bash later this month.

The city has advertised the post for a new animal control officer. Sutton finishes up March 31.

Smokey, Butler, Ho Ho, Tootsie, Caesar and Shep all still need dates for the prom. See photos by clicking on this link.
