Crestwood Bowl Sign Shines Anew on Watson Road

By day, you won't notice the change Crestwood Bowl made over the weekend. But drive on Watson Road at night and bask in the neon glow of their sign once more.

The sign, which went dark just a couple years ago, was Crestwood Bowl was able to restore the neon with a partial grant from the Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program. 

The bowling alley celebrated the rejuvenation of the sign with a re-lighting ceremony Saturday evening, complete with music, classic cars, and some Route 66-themed cakes. 

"This is the kind of thing that revitalizes the community, and keeps our history alive," said Ward I Alderman Mimi Duncan.

• The now-closed Johnny's Market has begun the process of clearing out the Gravois Road storefront, and everything must go. They're auctioning off more than 300 items including shopping carts, meat slicers, and checkout lanes. But the real gem of the auction is the chance to bid on their neon roadside sign, which is currently going for $310. Looking for something a little less conspicuous? The neon lettering on the side of the store is also available at $15. The auction closes Nov. 5. 
• Pints & Rails, a new bar in Crestwood for darts and billiards enthusiasts, installed their sign last week.
