Lindbergh Teacher Named Exceptional Educator
The Affton Chamber of Commerce honored LEAP teacher Therese Waldschmidt as a top educator at their annual banquet.

LEAP teacher Therese Waldschmidt was one of several teachers the Affton Chamber of Commerce honored at their annual Exceptional Educators banquet onMarch 14, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District..
Waldschmidt has been teaching in the Lindbergh district for 24 years, according to the release. She is a teacher in the Lindbergh Eager Achievers Program for gifted students and serves as LEAP testing coordinator for Lindbergh Schools.
Waldschmidt takes a hands-on approach to teaching robotics, Law with “Fairy Tales on Trial,” “Don’t Myth Out” (mythology), oceanography and backyard science, among other subjects, according to the release. Student have dissected fish and squid, drawn whales to scale and compared sand samples from around the world.

Waldschmidt also teaches a class called “Go Green,” which builds recycling and global awareness. She developed a total school recycling project along with students to minimize trash and emphasize recycling, reusing and composting, according to the news release.
