Rep. Wieland Appointed to Leadership Role on Lead Industry Task Force

Missouri House Speaker Tim Jones (R-Eureka) has appointed Rep. Paul Wieland (R-Imperial) to serve as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Missouri Lead Industry Employment, Economic Development and Environmental Remediation Task Force.

“I am honored that the speaker would appoint me to this important task force," Wieland said in a statement. "The lead industry in our state is important to many of our smaller communities, such as Herculaneum. 

"The jobs and commerce created by the lead industry is not something we can afford to lose in these trying economic times.”

As vice chairman and secretary of the Task Force, Wieland will be responsible for providing the agenda and reporting meeting minutes of the task force.

This is a very new task force, introduced on Apr 29, 2013  and adopted on May 17, which will include 11 members. Gov. Jay Nixon will appoint one group member, Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey (R-St. Charles) will select four, and four from Speaker Jones, the Attorney General of Missouri or his designee, and the Director of the Department of Natural Resources, or his designee.

Speaker Jones also appointed Rep. Kevin Engler (R-Farmington), Rep. TJ McKenna (D-Festus) and Mark Coomes of the Doe Run Company to serve as members of the Task Force.
