Resident Encourages New Crestwood Board to Take Positive Steps Toward Mall Redevelopment

Grant Mabie addresses tax increment financing (TIF) in a letter to Call Newspapers.

Are you ready to see new movement at Crestwood Court? Grant Mabie is.

Earlier this year Mayor Jeff Schlink said Centrum Properties would likely wait until the four newly-elected aldermen came into office before continuing discussions on mall redevelopment. Mabie ran for a vacant seat in Ward 3, and said he supported redevelopment of the mall area.

Mabie clarifies what he believes are some public misconceptions about the tax assistance being requested by developers, and encourages the board to move forward in a letter to Crestwood Call.

"I hope that the new Board of Aldermen starts taking the steps necessary to move the redevelopment forward, beginning with the hiring of professionals to advise the board during the redevelopment process," he wrote to Call.
