Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream is celebrating its decennial anniversary next week, with seven days of celebrations.

It will open the week's party with a Customer Appreciation Kick-Off, and introduce its "10th anniversary ice cream flavor," on Monday, July 15, and end on National Ice Cream Day, July 21, with another party.

The ice cream shop, at 8130 Big Bend, in Webster Groves first opened its doors for business July 8, 2003.

"There were no great ice cream parlors left in the St. Louis area," owner Beckie Jacobs said, explaining the idea behind Serendipity. "That was 11 years ago, when I began putting all this together. And quite frankly we still make the best ice cream in town and we're the only ice cream parlor in Webster Groves that makes their own ice cream."

More information about Serendipity can be found on its website, www.Serendipity-IceCream.com which also has more details about the 10-year anniversary celebration.

"I'm extremely grateful to the citizens and community of Webster Groves," Jacobs said. "And I hope to be here for at least another 10 more."
