St. Louis Suit Project Wins Daughters of American Revolution National Award

A St. Louis lawyer's effort to provide area men with proper job interview attire received a community service award from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).

Sunset Hills native Chris Dixon accepted the award on Jan. 12 at the Webster Groves chapter of the NSDAR. The Des Peres resident works at Page Law Firm in downtown St. Louis.

The Suit Project collects new and gently-used suits for donation to area men. The goal of the organization is to “level the playing field” by ensuring that inadequate clothing doesn’t hinder an individual’s chance at getting a job, or looking spiffy on a special occasion. They also accpet ties, sport coats, sweat suits, belts, and socks.

"We want their minds and personalities and who they are to show. We don’t want something like their wardrobe… to be the determiner," Dixon told Patch last year.
