ACC STL Celebrates National Pro Bono Month in October

St. Louis (October 16, 2024) -- The Association of Corporate Counsel - St. Louis Chapter is proud to celebrate National Pro Bono Month, which is held each October, by dedicating our time and expertise to providing free legal services to the community.

ACC STL Members Make a Difference

“Throughout October, ACC STL members are going above and beyond,” says Essica Zink, 2024 Chapter Pro Bono Chairperson and Senior Managing Counsel at Express Scripts. “They’re volunteering countless hours of legal expertise and guidance to individuals and families in need.”

Impactful Partnerships

The Chapter collaborates with local non-profits to offer a variety of legal assistance programs. In March and June, members volunteered for the Veteran's Estate Clinic. In partnership with the Missouri Veterans Commission, Chapter members have participated in 11 Estate Planning Clinics since 2019. This collaboration has resulted in the execution of over 900 documents for veterans and their families, with an estimated value of $450,500 in pro bono services.

Beyond Legal Support

The Chapter’s commitment to the community extends beyond legal services. In February, members volunteered for a Rap 'N Pack event at Operation Food Search (OFS) benefitting children in need through the Operation Backpack child nutrition program. Chapter members were able to combine networking and volunteering by working with OFS staff to organize 1,000 bags of food for Operation Backpack to be distributed to the children who are part of the program. The OFS program distributes approximately 6,500 backpacks each week across 15 counties in both Missouri and Illinois.
